Lions are one of the most savage animals on earth. They feed on meet and lie at the top of food chain. The lions that are kept in zoos go through a special diet where they are given the flesh as per their food requirements but they don’t hunt, as opposed to their natural behavior where they hunt to get food. So in a state like this, where lions are deprived of their basic natural cravings for hunting, if a human jumps in front of them, it’ll be no less than a treat for them. This is exactly what happened when a man jumped inside the Santiago zoo in front of the lions and took off his clothes. The lions had no choice but to attack him.
The zoo director Miss Alejandra narrates that a man came to visit zoo as usual. Later on, this man jumped inside the lion’s cage and took off his clothes. On getting attacked by the lions, this man started reciting religious matter. After investigation, it was found out that this man was named Franco Luis Ferrada Roman, aged 20 years. The bystanders captured many images of this heartbreaking scene.
According to the Miss Alejandra, this man bought the ticket as usual. Then out of nowhere, he jumped into the zone which is not allowed to the general public. Before anyone could stop him, this man jumped inside the zoo, in front of the lions, took off his clothes and started attracting the lions towards him.
The lions started playing with the man’s body. According to the authorities, the lions are not sedated as the zoo authorities make sure no one comes close to the cage. Despite the absurdity of this act, the guy survived as the authorities shot down 2 lions.via
The guy suffered many injuries. As for the authorities killing the lions, people have a mixed reaction to that. Some are in the favor that the lions shouldn’t had been killed as the man jumped inside the cage willfully and the attack by the lions was instinctive so the lions shouldn’t had been punished for it. Some people, on the other hand, appreciate the authorities’ impulsive decision of killing the lions.
A good number of people are also bashing the group authorities for unsatisfactory safety requirements as a person shouldn’t had been able to climb inside.
In their defense, the zoo authorities expressed their pain for the killing of the two big cats and said, “(The death of the lions) is deeply painful for each of us and especially for every one of the officials of the zoo, who care for them day by day.” She also, in their defense, said that “We want to clarify that the halls of our zoo are absolutely safe for our regular visitors and that, in cases like this, in which a person violates the security protocols of the enclosure, are absolutely out of the ordinary. They also clarified that the zoo is completely safe for visitors and a case like this happens once in a blue moon. The people however are of the opinion that either the man shouldn’t had been allowed to enter the cage or the cats shouldn’t had been killed.
